Harvard University, Momina Cheema, AM ’08 Memorial Graduate Travel & Research Fellowship
Overview
This fellowship establishes a fund to support the travel and research to Pakistan of graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University.
Recipients of this fellowship shall be students working on research related to Islamic law, Philosophy, and/or culture. Preference for this fellowship shall be given first to students in the Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC) Department studying Indo-Muslim Culture/Muslim Societies in South Asia and doing work in Pakistan, however; recipients may also be drawn from other departments in the Humanities and Social Sciences whose work relates to Islamic law, philosophy, and/or culture or whose studies in other fields bring them to do research and/or fieldwork in Pakistan.
The gift of the family of Momina Cheema, AM '08, establishes a fund to support the travel and research of graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. This fund honors the memory of Momina Cheema, who graduated with a master's degree in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations in 2008.
Recipients of this fellowship shall be students working on research related to Islamic law, philosophy, and/or culture. This current-use fund may be used to support a stipend and accommodation expenses for the recipient. The choice of the recipients of the fellowship will be made bythe NELC Department Committee on Fellowships in consultation with the Chair and the Professor of Indo-Muslim Cultures. A representative of the Momina Cheema Foundation may serve on the selection committee if desired by the Foundation.
The investment, administration, and distribution of the fund shall be accomplished in accordance with University policies governing endowment and certain other institutional funds, which may be amended from time to time. Under current policies a portion of the
amount made available for annual spending may be applied to defray direct and indirect facilities and administrative costs. Currently, direct student support for current use, such as fellowship support, is excluded.

Quetta To Harvard Travel Grant
Momina Cheema Foundation (MCF), USA has provided a scholarship to Hamaiyal Sana, an enterprising young doctor from Bolan Medical College, Quetta, Pakistan. This scholarship will enable Hamaiyal to avail the Paul Farmer Global Surgery Visiting Graduate Student fellowship in 2022-23 at Harvard Medical School.
